Balmain Rules

I cannot explain how much I love Balmain. They are one of my favourite designers. Their garments are glamourous and sexy yet quite rock chic and also has an eighties flavour. With lots of prints and embellishments it's hard not to love the glitzy designs.

Olivier Rousteing is the current designer and in my opinion he is doing an amazing job! He supervises the design and development of the brand’s men’s and women’s ready-to-wear collections.

The 2013 resort collection was inspired by Miami South Beach particularly the Art Deco architecture, black and white pool tiles and palm trees. The beautiful gold dress is inspired by the raffia and wickerwork café beach chairs.

The collection has a nice variety of garments ranging from long-line blazers and pleat-front
pants to cute A-line skirts cut in stiff, flat pleats to pastel biker jackets, and drapey palm and flower print shirts. I absolutely love the distorted juxtaposed diamond and stripes prints. Rousteing has kept some of the signature Balmain traits such as the structured shoulders, the skin tight pants and the mini length of the dresses.
